Set a Static IP Address on a Windows PC
If you are connecting to an Ethernet device which has a static IP address then you must configure your PC NIC (Network Interface Card) to operate on the same network IP in order to attain a peer to peer connection.
Click on Start and select the “Control Panel” menu item
Network & Sharing if you view by large or small icons
View Network Status and Tasks if you view by Category
Click Change Adapter Settings
Select Local Area Connection
Select Open Properties
Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Click Properties
Select “Use the following IP address” and fill in the blank fields with the information below:
This example is for a SN or RAM with a default IP Address of 192.168.0.1
IP address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.0.1
